ARRTH – Aathun’s Rural Rajasthan Program

Rajasthani
Folk Music

From the Heart of the State

ARRTH is an initiative of Aathun to Discover, Support & Enable the rural folk musicians, artists and singers of Rajasthan to increase their livelihood opportunities as well as sustain their passion for music, culture and heritage.

ARRTH is Aathun’s first step towards expanding its vision. The actualization of the program lies in its soulful musical melodies of talented & passionate rural artists, musicians and singers. Under the aegis of the program, we bring to spotlight these traditional rural musicians and instrumentalists of various communities through events, exhibitions and experiences.

Aathun & Its Folk Musicians

The folk musicians of Rajasthan have been badly hit by Covid-19 pandemic. Largely dependent on the tourism industry, millions are now jobless and struggling. The mass gatherings to watch the folk artists perform are now compromised because of the social distancing norms.

Many roadblocks are in their way: bookings cancelled, payments not made, and largely, a complete haul to their business. They have kept alive the folk music of Rajasthan across generations which is why safeguarding them is important. Aathun, through its sessions and donations, has been preserving the heritage and craft of Rajasthan.
