Aathun, a not-for-profit initiative launched by Rajasthan Studio, continues to preserve the he cultural value of the state through the folk music. The initiative strives to digitize the folk music industry and musician groups of Rajasthan giving the global crisis with its core mission of helping the artists generate income by showcasing their artform via virtual stages. So far, with 15 musical virtual sessions, Aathun supports several Musician Groups of Rajasthan as well. We mention 5 of these here:
1. The Langa Brothers – Sarangi Players
The Team of Roshan (Singer), Faruk Khan (Dholak), Sakil Khan (Harmonium), Kalu Khan (Singer), Asin Khan (Singer). Bhawaru Khan (Sarangi), Kasam Khan (Singer), and Rahim Khan (Khartal) played on the virtual stage of Aathun on 9th September 2020. They have been serving the important folk art music of Rajasthan for almost 40 years. Apart from nurturing the tradition of Algoza, Satara and Murali playing, the task of training children and young artists is prominent, for which the state government and social organizations have awarded them from time to time. The academy feels proud by awarding you with an “award” for the conduct, transmission, training, and personal cultural achievements of the art tradition. 2. Pade Khan & Group – Kamyacha Players
Manganiyars have eked out a livelihood by playing Kamyacha for the Royals. Pade Khan ji is a renowned Akashvani Doordarshan Artist and has performed in more than 35 Countries. He and his group also participated in India’s Got Talent. On the stage of Aathun, they performed on 14th October 2020. Aathun continues to shower their support for them. 3. Preamchand Ji & Dheru Group – Dheru Players
The members of the Group are Preamchandji, Fullaram, Rivrajaram, Omprakash, Vinod, Rakesh, Vinod, Ashok, Mohan, Beerbal. They have performed and exhibited at various places like Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur; Mehrangadh Fort, Jodhpur; Shilpgram, Udaipur; Ravindra Manch, Lucknow and Momasat Jajam Virasat in Churu, Rajasthan. They have been carrying on the legacy of their ancestors. Aathun feels proud to be able to give their musical group a stage to perform. Also, watch his Aathun performance here.
4. Sadhunath Ji & Group – Been Player
Been is often recalled for its act to tame snakes. Here, Sadhunath Ji with his epic Been symphonies will take you on a musical journey. Also, watch his Aathun performance here.
5. Shyam Saini Ji & Group – Chang Player
Few years ago, Shyam Ji Saini formed a group named Shyam Saini & Party. As a folk artist, his specialization lies in Chang, which is also known as Chang Dance/Dhamal Dance in Rajasthan. He is dedicated in spreading awareness about this folk dance form. His group has performed at various national platforms as well. Additionally, he is also a flute player and a singer. Aathun supports his Chang musical group and will continue to do so. Watch their Aathun performance here.
