Renowned folk artist in Barnava (Barmer), Rajasthan, Sikendra ji is Playing Chikara for the past 25 years. He learned this folk instrument from his Master Samsu Khan Ji. His Family is into folk art for many generations to preserve this more than a 500-year-old traditional art form. Chikara, a bowed string instrument from Rajasthan, is used to play Indian folk music. This instrument is primarily used by tribal musicians of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. This is a simple spike fiddle played similar to the Sarangi, by sliding fingernails on the strings. Three strung (two horse-tail and one steel) bowed unfretted spiked folk fiddle with a gourd resonator, played by pressing fingernails against the strings rather than depressing them to contact the fingerboard. Can describe a variety of stringed instruments in India.
